Rocky Mountain Power Threatens Idaho’s Solar Power!

Public Hearing: Voice your concerns and tell the Idaho PUC to Reject Rocky Mountain Power’s Solar Study!

Rocky Mountain Power is pushing a plan to slash compensation rates for rooftop solar owners. This plan mirrors one they successfully lobbied for in Utah, and aims to follow in Idaho Power’s footsteps to get the PUC to approve a bad “value of solar study.” This could significantly increase the bills for Idaho residents with solar. While attacking solar and energy democracy, RMP wants to expand, gas, continue burning coal, and sprinkle that with dangerous, expensive nuclear energy!  Here’s the dirty deal:

• Rocky Mountain Power wants the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to approve a misleading “value of solar study.”
• Based on this potentially flawed study, they’ll then seek to reduce the amount homeowners are paid for the clean, renewable energy their solar panels generate.
• This is bad news for Idaho’s environment and your wallet. Over 2,000 residents in the Rocky Mountain Power service area already enjoy the benefits of solar, and this move could discourage others from following suit.
