Opening Event: August 9th, 7pm at MING studios
Exhibition Runs: August 9th – September 29th
In 2017, with the help of nuclear watchdog group the Snake River Alliance, ten local and international artists toured the radioactive ‘clean-up’ sites at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). They watched the exhumation of plutonium contaminated waste that was buried sixty years ago in unlined pits directly above the Snake River Aquifer, the sole source of drinking water for 300,000 Idahoans.
Now, after one year of processing, the artists are presenting their work: a continuing chronicle of the nuclear age and its impossible conundrums, such as how to deal with substances whose radioactivity will outlast any container that we could make to hold it.
This year’s artists are: Kate Walker, Shawn Edrington, Kirsten Furlong, Marc Herbst, Caroline Earley, William Lewis, Rachel Reichert, Karl LeClair, Amy O’Brien and Tim Andreae.
Dine in an outdoor courtyard beside the gallery space and meet the artists of this compelling exhibition.
Enjoy the DJ stylings of “The Professor” Jonathan Sadler, a glass of wine or hard cider, and a spectacular dinner of all local food prepared by Peaceful Belly Farm. Meat and vegetarian options will be available as well as dessert. All is gluten free except the cookies! Selected exhibition pieces will be available for auction or purchase.
Proceeds will support Holding What Cant Be Held 2019.
Join us for a conversation between two anti nuclear activists who have been protesting the existence of nuclear weapons, nuclear power and battling the movement of nuclear waste across state lines for decades.
Beatrice Brailsford is currently the Nuclear Programs Director for the Snake River Alliance and Chuck David is a member of the Rocky Flats Truth Force, a grass-roots violent anti-nuclear group. The talk will be presented alongside an assemblage of nuclear protest objects in an art installation inspired by the activists.
Moderated by artist Amy O’Brien.
Please join us at the Statehouse in Boise as we deliver the petitions to Attorney General Lawrence Wasden.
You and 3000 other concerned people have signed the petition asking the Attorney General to oppose shipments of nuclear waste from Hanford, WA.
It’s time to show the AG how much support there is for the 1995 Nuclear Settlement Agreement that tightly restricts shipment of nuclear waste to Idaho.

Coming up… #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving!
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.
Consider giving your family and friends the gift of membership this season while at the same time protecting Idaho’s largest freshwater aquifer from nuclear waste and promoting clean energy.
