An Eye at the Top of the World

Boise's own Award-winning author Pete Takeda presents:

An Eye At The Top Of The World -

The Terrifiying Legacy of the Cold War's Most Daring CIA Operation

During the Cold War, the CIA trained some of the best climers in the world to plant a plutonium powered surveillance device in the heart of the Himalayas. The device was lost and nearly four pounds of plutonium are almost certainly moving ever closer to the source of the Ganges River.

In 2005, Pete and three friends set out to retrace the steps of the CIA expedition. In the process, they nearly lost their lives. An Eye At The Top Of The World jointly won the 2007 Kekoo Naoroji Memorial Himalayan Literature Award.

A portion of the sales from Pete's book will go to support the Alliance's continuing work to ensure a clean and sustainable world for all people free from the threat of nuclear technology, weapons, and waste!
